OLD-FASHIONED RICE PUDDING RECIPE

Do you cherish the best Homemade old-fashioned rice pudding recipe in the manner in which I do? This is an optimal delicacy for breakfast and supper, and obviously as a different dish as a sweet.

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup long-grain white rice, I use a heaping half cup
  • the ground cinnamon, optional
  • 6 cups whole milk, divided
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine 5½ cups milk, sugar, and salt. Stir and bring to a boil.
  • Add washed rice (I use a heaping half cup), stir, reduce heat to low and cook for 50-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • When rice porridge thickens, remove from heat, add vanilla, and cool.
  • Then pour in the remaining milk, stir and serve with a pinch of ground cinnamon.
