For the baked apples

  • 2 medium medium apples Use Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, Gala, Fuji, or Pink Lady for the best results.
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons brown sugar (or maple syrup) Adjust for sweetness preference.
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts) Optional for added crunch.
  • 1 tablespoon raisins or dried cranberries Optional.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Essential for flavor.
  • 1 pinch salt Enhances sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon butter (or coconut oil) For a glossy sauce.
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons apple juice or water Helps prevent scorching.

Preparation

  • Wash and core the apples, leaving half an inch at the bottom.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nuts, and dried fruit if using.
  • Stuff the apples with the filling and place a little butter on top.
  • Add apple juice or water under the apples in the air fryer basket.

Cooking

  • Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook for about 12 to 18 minutes, checking doneness at 12 minutes.
  • Let the apples rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving, spooning any syrup over the top.

Notes

You can make ahead by coring and stuffing the apples early in the day. Store them in the fridge until ready to air fry. For variations, consider adding nutmeg, granola, or toppings like yogurt or peanut butter.
