Ingredients
  

For the Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour With a pinch of salt, pepper, and paprika or garlic powder.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten (optional: splash of milk).
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs For maximum crunch, plus a pinch of salt.

For the Onion Rings

  • 2 large onions Sweet onions are preferred for a mild flavor.

Preparation

  • Slice the onions into rings about 1/2 inch thick, separating them gently.
  • Pat the onion slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Breading

  • In the first bowl, mix flour with salt, pepper, and paprika or garlic powder.
  • In the second bowl, beat the eggs with an optional splash of milk.
  • In the third bowl, place panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt.
  • Dredge each onion ring in flour, dip in egg, and press into panko breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Arrange the breaded onion rings in the air fryer basket without crowding.
  • Spray the rings lightly with cooking spray before cooking.
  • Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

Serve hot with your choice of dips like ketchup, ranch, or spicy mayo. Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes to restore their crispness.
