Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1-2 pieces sirloin steaks, about 1 inch thick (8 to 12 ounces each) Choose steaks that are close to room temperature.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • pinch smoked paprika (optional) Adds warmth.
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for serving) Melted on top before serving for flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Let the steak sit out for 20 to 30 minutes before cooking to take the chill off.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels to ensure a better browning.
  • Rub the steak with olive oil, and then season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika if desired. Don’t forget to season the edges.
  • Preheat the air fryer at 400°F for 3 to 5 minutes.

Cooking

  • Place the steak in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring air can flow around it.
  • Cook the steak at 400°F, flipping halfway through based on desired doneness: 8-10 minutes for rare, 10-12 for medium rare, 12-14 for medium, 14-16 for medium well, and 16-18 for well done.
  • Let the steak rest on a plate for 5 to 8 minutes after cooking.
  • Top with a tablespoon of butter and let it melt before serving.

Notes

Using a meat thermometer can help ensure perfect doneness. Always let the steak rest after cooking to retain juices.
