Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 piece Steak (about 1 to 1.5 inches thick) Choose a cut like ribeye, New York strip, sirloin, or filet mignon.
  • 1 tbsp Kosher salt Season generously.
  • 1 tbsp Black pepper Season generously.
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil or avocado oil Just a little to rub on the steak.
  • 1 tbsp Butter For serving, optional.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Take the steak out of the fridge 20 to 30 minutes before cooking to help it cook more evenly.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels to ensure better browning.
  • Lightly rub the steak with oil and season generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Add garlic powder if desired.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer at 400°F for 3 minutes if required.
  • Place the steak in the air fryer basket with some space around it.
  • Cook the steak at 400°F, flipping halfway through, checking at around 8 minutes total for a 1 inch thick steak.
  • Once done, check the temperature with a thermometer; pull it a few degrees below your final target.

Resting

  • Rest the steak on a plate for 5 to 10 minutes. Optional: Add butter on top to melt into the steak.

Notes

For best results, avoid super thin cuts as they can overcook quickly. Use a thermometer to gauge doneness and let the steak rest for juiciness. Enjoy with sides like air fryer potatoes or veggies.
