Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 4 fillets Tilapia fillets, fresh or frozen and fully thawed Try to pick fillets that are similar thickness.
  • 1 tablespoon Oil (olive oil or avocado oil) Just a little for brushing or rubbing.
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Or minced garlic if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Regular or smoked.
  • 1 Lemon Wedges for serving, plus zest if you want extra brightness.

Optional ingredients

  • to taste Parmesan cheese For a salty finish.
  • a pinch Cayenne pepper For heat.
  • to taste Dried parsley For color.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Thaw and dry the fish. If your fillets are frozen, thaw them overnight in the fridge or in a sealed bag in cold water for 20 to 30 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Brush or rub both sides of the fillets with a small amount of oil. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. If using, add lemon zest.
  • Preheat the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes at 400°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket or use parchment paper.

Cooking

  • Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 400°F for 7 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway if possible.
  • Check for doneness; the fish should flake easily with a fork and look opaque in the center. Aim for an internal temperature of 145°F at the thickest part.

Serving

  • Squeeze fresh lemon over the fish and add a little extra pepper. If using Parmesan, sprinkle it on top immediately after cooking so it can melt slightly.

Notes

Do not skip drying the fillets to ensure they cook properly without steaming. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking. Watch the thickness of the fillets as thinner ones may cook faster. Serve with quick veggies, starches like rice or potatoes, or as part of tacos.
