Main Ingredients

  • 1 box buttery crackers Classic square kind works best.
  • 1 pound bacon Cut into small pieces sized to fit each cracker.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Light or dark both work.
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper Optional for a spicy kick.
  • 1 pinch black pepper Optional, to enhance flavor.
  • 1 pinch smoked paprika Optional for additional flavor.
  • 1 piece foil For lining the sheet pan.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a sheet pan with foil.
  • If using a wire rack, set it on top of the lined pan.
  • Arrange crackers in a single layer on the sheet pan, avoiding large gaps.
  • Top each cracker with a piece of bacon.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the bacon, aiming for a small mound (about half a teaspoon to a teaspoon per cracker).

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 to 30 minutes, checking at 18 minutes for doneness.
  • Look for the bacon to be cooked through and the sugar to be melted and bubbling.
  • Once done, let the crackers cool on the pan for at least 10 minutes before moving them.

Notes

These bacon crackers can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container. For a spicy variant, add a pinch of cayenne on top of the sugar before baking. They are best enjoyed within the first 24 hours but can still be tasty the next day.
