Pudding Filling

  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding mix (5.1 oz)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Soften cream cheese for a smooth filling.
  • 1 tub whipped topping (8 oz), thawed Fold in gently to keep it fluffy.

Assembly Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 pieces ripe bananas, sliced Use ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1 box Chessmen butter cookies These cookies soften to create a cake-like texture.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  • Add the sweetened condensed milk and mix until creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the pudding mix with cold milk for about 2 minutes until it thickens.
  • Combine the pudding with the cream cheese mixture and stir until smooth.
  • Fold in the whipped topping gently so it stays light and fluffy.

Assembly

  • In a 9x13 dish or a trifle bowl, layer Chessmen cookies on the bottom.
  • Add a layer of sliced bananas, then spread on a layer of the pudding mixture.
  • Repeat layers until you run out, finishing with cookies on top.
  • Cover and chill for at least 4 hours, overnight is even better.

Notes

Tips for success: Use ripe bananas that are not mushy, allow for adequate chill time, keep layers even, do not overmix after adding whipped topping, and consider adding fresh banana slices before serving. Best eaten within 24 hours.
