  • 1 tub Cool Whip (8 oz, thawed in the fridge) Thaw for smooth mixing.
  • 1 bag chocolate chips (12 oz, milk or semi sweet) Melt in microwave.
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (dry mix only, do not add eggs or oil) Use a brand new box if possible.

Preparation

  • Line a 9x13 pan with parchment paper, leaving some hanging over the sides.
  • In a large bowl, beat the thawed Cool Whip and dry cake mix together on low, then increase speed until thick and sticky.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second bursts, stirring each time until smooth.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into the Cool Whip mixture and mix until fully combined and glossy.
  • Spread the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Refrigerate until firm, usually 2 to 3 hours. Once firm, lift out, slice, and serve.

Notes

Slice into small pieces as this candy is rich. Clean cuts help in neatly serving.
