These buttery, garlicky breadsticks are easy to make and are the perfect warm and comforting snack, reminiscent of pizza place flavors.

Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup Warm water Not hot, just comfy warm
  • 2 teaspoons Active dry yeast To wake up the dough
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Only a little, to activate the yeast
  • 3 cups All purpose flour For the base of the dough
  • 1 teaspoon Salt For flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or melted butter In the dough for extra richness

Topping Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Butter For brushing after baking
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder For flavoring the topping
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Shredded or freshly grated for topping

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, stir warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  • Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the foamy yeast mixture. Mix until it comes together, then knead for 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Put the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled, about 45 to 60 minutes.

Baking

  • Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface and cut into strips.
  • Place on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Right after baking, brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic powder, and add Parmesan.

Notes

For variations, consider adding shredded mozzarella during the last few minutes of baking, or mixing Italian herbs into the dough.
