Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened This is the heart of the dip
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt For a lighter, tangy loosen up

Flavorings

  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped Frozen cooked shrimp works well, thawed and patted dry
  • 2 tbsp green onions or chives, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Fresh tastes best
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay or Cajun seasoning Optional but enhances flavor
  • to taste salt and black pepper
  • to taste hot sauce Optional, just a few shakes

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. If cream cheese is cold, let it sit on the counter for 20 minutes or microwave for 8 to 10 seconds.
  • Stir in lemon juice, seasonings, and hot sauce if using. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  • Fold in chopped shrimp and green onions. Reserve some shrimp for garnish.
  • Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving, though it can be eaten right away.

Notes

This dip can be made in advance and is even better after chilling. Avoid adding watery toppings too early. Store in the fridge and consume within 2 to 3 days. Can be paired with crackers, tortilla chips, or veggies.
