  • 1 pound Ground beef Use lean ground beef (85-90 percent)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can diced tomatoes Optional, adds extra sauciness
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup For burger flavor
  • 2 tablespoons mustard For burger flavor
  • 2 tablespoons hot dog relish Helps achieve a cheeseburger flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 12 ounces bow tie pasta
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Shred your own for better melting
  • 4 ounces cream cheese Or a splash of milk for a lighter option

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet, then drain off any extra grease.
  • In a crockpot, combine the browned beef, onion, garlic, beef broth, diced tomatoes (if using), ketchup, mustard, hot dog relish, salt, pepper, and paprika.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for about 4 to 5 hours or on high for around 2 to 3 hours.
  • About 20 minutes before serving, cook the bow tie pasta until just barely done, then drain it.
  • Stir the cooked pasta into the slow cooker along with the cheddar cheese and cream cheese (or milk), stirring until melted and creamy.
  • Let it sit on warm for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best texture, do not overcook the pasta. You can customize the creaminess by adjusting the amount of cheese or cream cheese used. Freezing suggestions provided for leftovers.
