  • 1 pack taco seasoning Choice of mild or spicy.

  • 1 handful chopped cilantro Optional for garnish.
  • squeeze of lime Optional for extra flavor.
  • 1/2 chopped onion Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 clove garlic Optional for added flavor.

Preparation

  • Layer the chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Pour the jar of salsa verde over the chicken, ensuring it covers all pieces.
  • Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the top.

Cooking

  • Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or on high for about 3 hours.
  • Once cooked, shred the chicken with a fork.
  • For extra flavor, squeeze in lime juice or stir in chopped cilantro just before serving.

Notes

Do not use frozen chicken directly; thaw first for best results. For a thicker sauce, remove the lid for the last 30 minutes of cooking. For added spice, include jalapeno or chili flakes.
