Preparation

  • In a small pot, combine cocoa powder and salt.
  • Gradually whisk in non-dairy milk until well mixed.
  • Add the maple syrup and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until steamy but not boiling.
  • If desired, stir in dark chocolate chips until melted and creamy.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.

Notes

Don’t let the mixture boil to avoid bitterness. Use a whisk for a smooth texture, and have fun with toppings like cinnamon, coconut whipped cream, or vegan marshmallows!
