Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
  • 1 package crescent dough
  • 1 package thawed bread dough

Filling

  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara, or any red sauce you love
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese plus a little parmesan for extra flavor
  • 1 cup pepperoni or cooked sausage, mushrooms, olives, or chopped bell peppers
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes if you like heat

Finishing

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter for brushing

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) or set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the pizza dough or crescent dough on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut the dough into small squares or circles, large enough to hold the filling.
  • In a bowl, mix together pizza sauce, mozzarella, and your choice of toppings.

Assembly

  • Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough piece.
  • Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges well to seal.
  • Brush the tops of the rolls with olive oil or melted butter.

Cooking

  • Place the rolls seam-side down in the preheated oven or air fryer.
  • Bake or air fry for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

Serving

  • Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Do not overfill the rolls to prevent them from bursting. Use less wet fillings and add extra cheese for better cohesion. Great for freezing - cool the rolls first, then freeze in a single layer before storing in a bag.
