Ingredients

Lemonade Base

  • 6-8 lemons Fresh lemons (enough for about 1 cup of juice) Use fresh lemons for the best flavor.
  • 3/4 cup Granulated sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 5 cups Cold water Add more if you want it lighter.
  • as needed cups Ice for serving Serve over ice for the best experience.
  • as needed Optional: thin lemon slices for decoration Add for a pretty presentation.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Juice your lemons. Roll each lemon on the counter to release more juice, cut, and juice them until you have about 1 cup of lemon juice. Strain if you prefer less pulp.
  • Make a quick simple syrup by combining 3/4 cup sugar with 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Warm on low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Alternatively, microwave the mixture in short bursts, stirring until clear.
  • In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice and simple syrup. Pour in 4 more cups of cold water and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness or dilution as desired.
  • Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Notes

For best results, use real lemons and dissolve the sugar first. Adjust the sweetness to your taste after chilling. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for 3-4 days.
