Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, lamb, turkey, or a mix) Use your favorite type.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped Optional add-in for extra flavor.
For the cauliflower mash
  • 1 head cauliflower, chopped Make sure to drain well after cooking.
  • 2 tbsp butter For creaminess.
  • 4 oz cream cheese Add coconut cream for dairy-free option.
  • 1 tsp salt To taste.
  • 1 tsp pepper To taste.
Optional toppings and herbs
  • 1 tsp rosemary or thyme For added flavor.
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Use for a crispy topping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Sauté the ground meat in a large skillet over medium heat with chopped onions and garlic until brown.
  3. If using, add chopped mushrooms and cook until softened.
Mashed Cauliflower
  1. While the meat cooks, steam or boil the chopped cauliflower until tender.
  2. Drain thoroughly and then mash it with butter, cream cheese, salt, and pepper until creamy.
  3. Make sure to squeeze out excess water to avoid a runny mash.
Assembling and Baking
  1. Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  2. Top with the mashed cauliflower, spreading it out smoothly.
  3. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For best results, drain your cauliflower well to achieve a fluffy topping. Variations can include adding chopped spinach to the mash or substituting different meats based on preference.
