  • 3 cups cooked chicken, shredded Rotisserie chicken works best.
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup Provides creaminess without extra steps.
  • 1 cup sour cream Adds tang and richness.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Sharp cheddar is preferred.
  • 2 cups crushed buttery crackers Ritz crackers recommended.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter For mixing with crackers.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
  • Shred your cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Mixing and Layering

  • In a bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheese. Optionally add seasonings.
  • Fold in the shredded chicken until coated.
  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  • Crush the crackers and mix with melted butter, then sprinkle over the casserole.

Baking

  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until edges are bubbling and topping is golden.
  • Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use flavorful chicken like rotisserie for richness. Do not over crush the crackers for texture. Watch the last 5 minutes of baking to prevent burning.
