  • 1 bottle dry red wine (Cabernet or Tempranillo) Choose a dry wine for the best flavor.
  • 1 orange sliced into thin rounds Any type of orange will work.
  • 1 apple chopped up (honeycrisp or granny smith recommended) Use a crunchy apple for the best texture.
  • 1 lemon sliced Adds a zesty flavor.
  • 1 cup fresh berries (blueberries, blackberries, or strawberries) Choose your favorite berries.
  • 2-3 tablespoons raw honey Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice Squeeze it fresh for best flavor.
  • 1 splash sparkling water Use plain or citrus flavored.
  • optional sliced limes or fresh herbs (like mint or basil) For added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Pour the bottle of dry red wine into a large pitcher.
  2. Add the sliced orange, apple, lemon, and fresh berries to the pitcher.
  3. Drizzle honey over the fruit and stir gently.
  4. Pour in the fresh orange juice and mix again.
  5. Taste the mixture and add more honey if necessary.
  6. Refrigerate the sangria for at least two hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  7. Before serving, add a splash of sparkling water to the mixture.
  8. Serve in glasses filled with fruit from the pitcher.

Notes

Chill your pitcher beforehand for a refreshing drink. Pair well with grilled chicken or a summer salad. Don’t forget to serve with a spoon to enjoy the fruit!
