Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 40 pieces Saltine crackers Enough to cover a standard rimmed baking sheet
  • 1 cup Butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup Brown sugar Packed
  • 2 cups Chocolate chips Semi-sweet is classic

Optional Toppings

  • 1/2 cup Chopped nuts Pecans or almonds work well
  • 3 tablespoons Flaky salt For topping
  • As needed Sprinkles For decoration

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray lightly with nonstick spray.
  • Arrange saltine crackers in one tight layer on the sheet.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring until it starts bubbling.
  • Once bubbling, let it boil for about 3 minutes, stirring continuously until it looks smooth and thicker.
  • Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread it if needed.
  • Bake for 5 minutes, watching closely until bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips across the top. Let them sit for 2 to 3 minutes to melt.
  • Spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer and add optional toppings if desired.
  • Let cool completely until firm before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Store in an airtight container. It's fine at room temperature for a few days or refrigerate if your kitchen is warm.
