Ingredients
  

For the Float

  • 1-2 tablespoons Grenadine Adjust based on how sweet you like it.
  • 1-2 cups Ginger ale or lemon lime soda Choose your favorite soda.
  • 2 scoops Vanilla ice cream Good quality ice cream makes a difference.
  • 2 pieces Maraschino cherries At least one cherry per glass.
  • optional Splash of cherry juice or squeeze of lime For added flavor.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Chill tall glasses for a few minutes.
  • Add grenadine first (1 to 2 tablespoons) to the bottom of each glass.
  • Pour in the soda slowly, filling about three quarters of the glass.
  • Scoop in 1 to 2 big scoops of vanilla ice cream.
  • Top with maraschino cherries and serve with a straw and a long spoon.
  • Stir gently once to swirl the grenadine through, but do not over-mix.

Notes

Floats are best served immediately while fizzy and the ice cream is just starting to melt. Use a larger glass for best results and serve right away to prevent overflow.
