Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Grease your slow cooker insert with butter or nonstick spray.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  • Cut the bread into 1 to 1.5 inch cubes and add half to the slow cooker.
  • Pour half of the custard over the bread and press down lightly to soak.
  • Repeat with the remaining bread and custard; drizzle melted butter on top.
  • Optionally, sprinkle a crumbly streusel topping before cooking.

Cooking

  • Cook on Low for 3 to 4 hours until the center is set and edges are lightly browned.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes with the lid off before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently. You can assemble the casserole the night before and refrigerate overnight.
