  • 1 cup Granulated sugar For making the syrup.
  • 4 cups Cold water Adjust to taste.
  • lots of ice Ice To serve.
  • a pinch salt Optional: a pinch of salt Helps to round out the flavor.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Juice your lemons. Roll them on the counter first to get more juice.
  • Make a quick syrup by stirring sugar with a bit of hot water until it dissolves. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  • In a big pitcher, mix lemon juice, the syrup, and cold water.
  • Taste and adjust. Add more water if it is too strong, or more syrup if it is too sharp.
  • Fill cups with ice and pour it over. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use cold water and chill the pitcher before serving. Do not let ice melt too much in the pitcher to avoid watery lemonade. Adjust sugar to taste.
