Sweet Peach Iced Tea

Ingredients
  

For the Peach Syrup

  • 4 ripe peaches 4 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced (skin on is fine) Use ripe peaches for best flavor.
  • 4 cups 4 cups water for the peach syrup
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar (or honey, adjust to taste) Adjust to personal sweetness preference.

For the Iced Tea

  • 6 to 8 bags Black tea, 6 to 8 bags (or 2 tablespoons loose leaf) Black tea gives a classic flavor.
  • 4 to 5 cups 4 to 5 cups cold water to dilute Dilute based on desired strength.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional but it brightens everything) Add for a refreshing citrus note.
  • Ice Ice, lots of it For serving.

Instructions
 

Brew the Tea

  • Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, turn off the heat, add tea bags, and steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and let it cool a bit.

Make the Peach Syrup

  • In a pot, add sliced peaches, 4 cups water, and sugar.
  • Simmer for about 10 to 12 minutes until peaches are soft and the liquid smells amazing.

Mash and Strain

  • Use a spoon to gently mash the peaches.
  • Strain into a bowl or directly into your pitcher, pressing the peaches to extract juice.

Mix it Up

  • Pour brewed tea into the pitcher with the peach syrup.
  • Add lemon juice if using.

Chill and Serve

  • Add cold water to reach your preferred strength and refrigerate until cold.
  • Pour over ice to serve.

Notes

Chill the pitcher for 20 minutes if serving soon. The drink tastes better the next day as the peach flavor settles in. Store leftovers in the fridge covered for up to 2-3 days.
