Ingredients

For the Base

  • 2 cups chocolate cake or brownie chunks Can also use chocolate cookies.

For the Cheesecake Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese Full fat, softened for best texture.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar To sweeten the cheesecake.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder For rich chocolate flavor.
  • 2-4 tbsp Baileys Add gradually to avoid thinning the mix.
  • 1 cup whipped topping or whipped cream For fluffiness in the cheesecake layer.

For the Optional Layer

  • 1 pack instant chocolate pudding Optional, for added richness.

For Topping

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or shavings To decorate the trifle.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut brownies or chocolate cake into bite-sized cubes or crush cookies into chunky crumbs.
  • In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Mix in powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
  • Drizzle in Baileys a little at a time. Fold in whipped topping gently.
  • If using instant pudding, whisk it up and let it set for a few minutes.

Layering

  • In a trifle bowl or glass dish, layer brownie chunks first, then chocolate cheesecake filling, then optional pudding, repeating the layers.
  • Finish with whipped topping and plenty of chocolate shavings on top.

Chilling

  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the layers to set.

Notes

Keep your cream cheese and whipped topping cold to retain the layers' structure. Portions into small cups are great for parties.
